Seven numbers that define WhatsApp API pricing in India, 2026
- 1
The median Indian BSP charges ₹1,500/month in entry-tier platform fees before a single message is sent; the median growth-tier plan costs ₹4,499/month (13 of 15 BSPs with published pricing, July 2026).
- 2
Per-message marketing markups run 0% to 30% over Meta’s ₹0.8631 India rate — the three largest SMB BSPs by brand share (Wati +29.8%, AiSensy +26.3%, Interakt +20.5%) average a +25.5% markup.
- 3
Only 2 of 15 BSPs surveyed (RichAutomate, BotPenguin) have a ₹0 entry floor, and only RichAutomate is fully usage-only with no plan tiers at all.
- 4
2 of 15 BSPs (Gupshup, Karix) publish no pricing whatsoever, and 3 of 15 (Wati, Zoko, BotSailor) bill Indian customers in USD — an effective 6–8% hidden surcharge from forex spread plus card-conversion fees.
- 5
On 1 January 2026 Meta raised the India marketing rate 10.0% (₹0.7846 → ₹0.8631) while utility and authentication held at ₹0.115 — the hike hit every BSP’s customers identically.
- 6
Volume crossover: a ₹0-fee usage-only model is cheapest below ~10,000 messages/month; flat-fee zero-markup BSPs edge ahead above it; per-message-markup BSPs (Wati, AiSensy, Interakt) are never the cheapest option at any volume in our model.
- 7
At 100,000 messages/month, ₹19,900/month — ₹2.4 lakh/year — separates the cheapest and costliest published BSP (₹57,385 vs ₹77,300) for identical Meta delivery.
Methodology
Sample. 15 WhatsApp Business Solution Providers actively selling to Indian businesses in 2026, spanning SMB self-serve platforms (AiSensy, Wati, Interakt, Gallabox, DoubleTick, Zoko, WhatsBoost, BusinessOnBot, PickyAssist, BotPenguin, WebMaxy, BotSailor), enterprise CPaaS (Gupshup, Karix) and RichAutomate (the publisher — included because excluding the publisher from a market index would mislead readers; every figure cites a public source).
Sources and verification. Each provider’s public pricing page was accessed and recorded between June and July 2026 (column verified in the CSV). The Meta baseline is the official WhatsApp Business Platform India rate card effective 1 January 2026: ₹0.8631 per marketing message, ₹0.115 per utility or authentication message, service free inside the 24-hour window. USD plans are converted at ₹83/USD.
Definitions. Platform fee = the fixed monthly subscription charged regardless of volume (entry tier and growth tier recorded separately). Per-message rate = what the customer actually pays per marketing or utility message, including any BSP surcharge. Markup vs Meta — the derived statistic original to this study — = (provider marketing rate − ₹0.8631) ÷ ₹0.8631. Providers that disclose no per-message rate are marked “not published” and excluded from markup medians rather than estimated.
Limitations. Sales-gated enterprise pricing (Gupshup, Karix) cannot be indexed; negotiated volume discounts are not captured; GST (18%) is excluded from all figures for comparability.

How the Meta India rate card got here
- Pre-July 2025
Per-conversation billing. Businesses paid per 24-hour conversation window, not per message — one charge could cover dozens of messages.
- 1 July 2025
Shift to per-message pricing. Meta moved marketing, utility and authentication to per-message billing globally. India marketing settled at ₹0.7846/message; utility and authentication at ₹0.115.
- 1 January 2026
The +10% marketing hike. Marketing rose ₹0.7846 → ₹0.8631 (+10.0%); utility and authentication held at ₹0.115; service stayed free inside the 24-hour window. Full impact math in our Meta rate-hike January 2026 impact calculator.
- July 2026 (this study)
The BSP layer is now the variable. With every provider paying Meta the same rate, the platform fee (₹0–₹16,600/mo) and markup (0–30%) layers are where Indian businesses win or lose money.
Frequently asked

What is the Meta WhatsApp rate card for India in 2026?

Four providers pass the Meta rate through at 0% markup as of July 2026: Gallabox, DoubleTick, Zoko and WhatsBoost (0–1%) — they monetise via flat monthly fees of ₹799–₹4,499 instead.
